In December 2014, at an exclusive event in Muscat, Oman Air unveiled its newest aircraft – the Airbus A330-300 and the Boeing 737. Both these aircraft feature new interiors, seats and inflight entertainment systems, including new Business Class cabins. The airline will take delivery of 24 new planes over the next three years.
The A330-300
The Business Class cabin on Oman Air’s Airbus A330-300 features 24 spacious seats arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. Designed by BE Aerospace, the seats are 21-inches wide and convert into 77-inch long, fully flat beds so passengers can sleep during the journey.
The backrest, seat bottom, seat depth and leg rest can be adjusted using electronic controls to suit your preferred body position and there’s also a folding armrest should you wish to have more space. Other features of your seat include ample storage, a one-piece meal table and cocktail table, integrated reading light and mood light controls so you can work or relax in a comfortable environment.
When it comes to inflight entertainment, the new Oman Air Business Class is equipped with a cutting edge Thales AVANT in-seat audio video on demand system, so you can kick back and watch a movie on your own personal 17-inch monitor with touch screen handset. If you need to give your electronics some juice, you can charge them using the universal power outlets and USB ports available at every seat. You’ll also be able to keep in touch with colleagues and friends on the ground, thanks to the latest Airbus ALNA system for onboard WiFi and mobile phone usage.
Boeing 737
Since the B737 is a short to medium haul aircraft, it has just 12 Business Class seats designed by Recaro, laid out in a 2-2 configuration. However it does have the same Thales AVANT in-seat audio and video on demand system as that found on the long haul A330s. Each seat on the 737 features electronic backrest/seat bottom, leg rest and seat depth controls, a 10.6 inch in-arm video screen, PC power outlet, USB port, reading light and literature pocket. They are 22 inches wide and convert into fully flat beds measuring 77.5 inches long.
Premium customers are welcomed with Arabic dates and coffee and can choose from a fine dining menu that includes both modern and traditional Arabic dishes. The airline’s expert chefs use only the freshest ingredients and each dish is served on bespoke tableware. As a Business Class passenger you can also take advantage of Oman Air’s complimentary chauffeur-drive service at select destinations, to whisk you to the airport in style.
