Flying Business Class to Bangkok from the UK
There are a number of airlines which operate flights with a business class cabin from Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Gatwick and London Heathrow to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok. Airlines that offer a business class cabin for passengers travelling from the UK to Bangkok include Etihad Airways, Air France, Oman Air, Emirates Airlines and Qatar Airways.
There are two main airports that business travellers can fly to when travelling to Bangkok – the Suvarnabhumi Airport is used by all airlines except for Air Asia, Orient Thai and Nok Air. Air Asia instead operates its flights from the UK to the Don Muang Airport. Both airports are located around 30 km from the city centre so both require business travellers to make a car journey if they are staying in the centre of Bangkok.Suvarnabhumi Airport is Bangkok’s main airport and the busiest in all of Southeast Asia it is used for both international and domestic flights.
Attractions, Getting Around and Where to Stay
Bangkok has plenty of quirky and beautiful attractions for business travellers to visit whilst they stay in the city. The floating markets are particularly worth visiting – five of the most recommended and active markets include DamnoenSaduak Floating Market, Amphawa Floating Market, Talin Chan Floating Market which is the third most visited market in Bangkok, KhlongLatMayom Floating Market and Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market. The latter is the smallest of the markets and is located in the Eastern part of Bangkok. Other notable places that business travellers may wish to visit include the Chao Phraya River and Waterways – one of the most scenic places in the city – and WatArun (The Temple of Dawn).
Bangok is renowned for having crazy traffic jams and pollution – in an attempt to reduce this, the Skytrain was created. This is convenient for anyone wishing to visit Siam Square – the shopping and entertainment district in Bangkok – and downtown Bangkok. A quick and convenient way to navigate around the city is to use the metered taxis. However, you must insist the meter is being used and not fall in to the trap of having the fare made higher because you are a visitor to the city. Any taxi with a red sign on the front window, lit up, means that the taxi is available for you to take.
In general, Bangkok is considered a safe city – there are not many places that are unsafe for business travellers to visit, however, for peace of mind business travellers should try to stick to the Sukhumvit, or Siam area as it is within close proximity to the Skytrain. Some great hotels for business travellers include the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit which includes a library and a Business Centre; there is also the DusitThanj Bangkok hotel which overlooks Lumpini Park and combines Thai tradition with exceptional service.
