Dubai is and should be on any business conference location list. With a robust global standing as a diverse destination for hospitality, infrastructure and mind-boggling choices of attractions, it’s no wonder the second largest Emirate (by population and size) in the UAE regularly earns itself a place in the top ten list of the most popular business destinations in the world. So here’s why it’s in ours:
1. Acclaimed Business Hub
From its humble beginnings as an undiscovered place off the Gulf coast to now emerging as a gateway city between Europe and the Far East, Dubai is a logical base for conducting an international meeting. Since the establishment of the UAE in 1971, Dubai has exhibited a proven track record for economic growth and political stability. One of the main factors that has contributed to its establishment as an acclaimed business hub is its strategic location at the crossroads of world trade and commerce between Europe, Africa and Asia.
With ambitious growth strategies, state-of-the-art infrastructure and exceptional business environment, this Emirate has become the international economic destination and obvious choice to do business in the Middle East. It’s also one of our most popular Business Class flight destinations – but there’s no wondering why. Combine the benefit of all that with a discounted business flight, and you’re set.
2. Transport Links
Getting to Dubai from anywhere in the world is easy as it is connected to more than 140 destinations worldwide thanks to its national airline, Emirates. Its international airport, which welcomed more than 75.5 million passengers in 2015, is served by more than 125 airlines. And their first and business class services aren’t to be missed – it’s all about landing on your feet when you get to Dubai, and a long haul flight in Emirates business class is the only way to do it.
The city’s outstanding infrastructure makes getting around within Dubai just as easy. It has a metro-system, tram system, taxis and – our favourite mode of transport – chauffeured cars. Dubai is setting an impressive precedent with its innovative city planning – and that’s good news for you and me. But transport can be on the expensive side unless you’re in the know. (Don’t worry – we’re masters at this. We don’t stop at just discounted flights…).
If after your long haul business flight you’re feeling more adventurous, you’ll be relieved to hear it is extremely safe to travel on public transport, because Dubai has also earned a title as one of the safest tourist destinations in the world.
3. Business Events
Dubai is well-known for its extravagant hotels which offer flexible conference and events facilities in abundance. Many of these hotels can cater for anywhere between 10 people for a basic meeting to well-equipped conference rooms for the hundreds, or opt for a convention centre that can hold tens of thousands of trade delegates. The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) offers a wide-range of events facilities for business events or special occasions, and hosts more than 50 per cent of all of the Middle East’s exhibitions and conferences.
Be sure not to miss the World Expo in 2020 to be held in Dubai, expected to generate jobs for more than 30,000 volunteers and create huge job opportunities within the region.
4. From Business Hub to Dining Club
Dubai offers the world’s very best at your table, to follow up a long day of conferencing. The 51st floor of the popular Jumeirah Emirates Towers on Sheikh Zayed Road offers great sundowner cocktails at its Alta Badia Bar. Famous for its sail design, the well-known Burj al Arab Hotel also boasts great views for enjoying cocktails in its Skyview Bar. Next door set in a jetty out over the Gulf, The Madinat Jumeirah houses one of Dubai’s best restaurants, the Pierchic.
Most of Dubai’s more popular restaurants are usually found in the hotels. Those hotel restaurants also tend to have the hard-to-obtain alcohol licenses, which is good news if you’re looking for a post-meeting cocktail. We like ours shaken, not stirred.
